OTEC Announces Six New Board Members at December AGM


As we move into 2020, OTEC is proud to welcome our newest Board members who bring a diversity of experience and strategic insight to the organization:

Joe Baker, Dean, School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts, Centennial College
Having previously led dynamic teams at George Brown College, Oliver and Bonacini Restaurants, and Keg Restaurant Limited, Joe now leads the School of Hospitality, Tourism, and Culinary Arts at Centennial College as Dean. His true passion centers on foodservice and hospitality-focused experiential learning environments.

Trevor Ellis, Director of Corporate Services, Responsible Gambling Council
Trevor has a successful record working in financial and operation planning, budget management, human resources, and information technology implementation for both corporate and non-profit organizations.

Dino DiVito, Managing Partner, Link Financial
A senior executive who has a long history working in strategic planning, acquisition, finance, operations, and asset management. Dino has held many senior positions in tourism, real estate, and most recently the financial industry.

Shanna Munro, President and CEO, Restaurants Canada
Shanna Munro is the CEO of Restaurants Canada whose advocacy efforts provide a platform for the voices of restaurant owners and foodservice operators to be heard. She has earned a reputation as a dynamic visionary and a strong advocate for women in the workplace. She excels at providing financial and strategic guidance to diverse business concerns, engineering economic models, and orchestrating brand plans that impart energy and focus throughout the organization.

Eitan Dehtiar, Independent Consultant
A results-oriented senior finance executive with an excellent 20-year track record of progressive hands-on leadership and change management experience.

James Olson, Chief Administrative Officer, BarterPay Canada
While James brings decades of progressive leadership experience from the financial industry, his true passion lies in the areas of organizational development, learning and development, change management and workplace culture.
“I am very pleased to have such an enthusiastic and accomplished Board,” says Adam Morrison, President & CEO, OTEC. “Their diverse expertise in the financial, hospitality, education, food service, and community development sectors will help provide strategic guidance to OTEC as a leader in workforce innovation for the tourism, hospitality and service sectors.”

Continuing in the role of Chair is Mr. John Wilkinson, Partner, WeirFoulds LLP,. Mr. Wilkinson has been a member of the OTEC Board since 2015 and has extensive experience within the legal and not for profit sectors. Dr. Statia Elliot, as Interim Associate Dean External Relations Lang School of Business, University of Guelph will continue for another term as Vice-Chair as does Brenda Brown formerly Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Compass Group Canada who remains as Secretary.

OTEC also recognizes five outgoing members of the Board. Mr. Doug Hyland, Wendy Forsythe, Nick DiRenzo, Katherine Power and Michele Harris. Thanks to their support and significant contributions, OTEC has grown into Ontario’s leading tourism and hospitality workforce solutions organization with a broad reach nationally. OTEC thanks these past Board members for their service and wishes them much success in their future pursuits.
