Ottawa region is home to the capital city of Canada and stands on the south bank of the Ottawa River in the eastern portion southern Ontario. Ottawa borders Gatineau, Quebec and forms the core of the Ottawa-Gatineau Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) and the National Capital Region (NCR). It is on the south bank of the Ottawa River and encompasses the mouths of the Rideau River as well as the Rideau Canal. The region boasts a number of top universities including the University of Ottawa and Carleton University as well as the National Arts Centre, the National Gallery of Ontario and so much more.
